Connect Braintree as your payment gateway
Connect Braintree as your payment gateway so your store can accept payment methods your customers expect and trust. You can do this during onboarding or in Bold Account Center.
Prerequisites
To connect your Braintree payment gateway, you need the following:
- Bold Booster installed on your store:
- Admin access to the Braintree account you want to connect
- Knowledge of which payment method(s) you want to offer in your store. Bold Booster with Braintree supports the following payment methods:
- PayPal
- PayPal Pay Later
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Credit and debit cards
- Admin access to your store

Connect Braintree during onboarding
If you're first setting up Bold Booster, follow these steps to connect Braintree as your payment gateway during onboarding.
Enter your payment gateway information
- In the onboarding modal, under Connect a payment gateway, find Braintree and click Connect.
- Enter the following credentials. Refer to Braintree documentation for help finding these in your Braintree account.
- Merchant Accounts
- Merchant ID
- Public Key
- Private Key
- Tokenization Key
- If you want to include credit or debit card payment fields processed through Braintree, check the Credit Card box.
- Click Save.
Select and customize payment methods
- In the list of payment gateways, next to Braintree, click the ellipsis (...) and click Edit credentials.
- For Payment gateway name, specify a name for this gateway, or leave it as is. This name won't be visible to customers.
- For Currency, select the currency this gateway will use.
- Select which payment method(s) you want this payment gateway to use. Refer to the Bold Booster overview for a full list of payment methods compatible with your platform and payment gateway.
note
If you select a payment method that is not available to your region, that payment method will not appear on your storefront.
- If you enable Apple Pay, complete these additional steps so Apple Pay works correctly.
- If you enable Google Pay with Braintree, you also need to enable it in your Braintree business account settings.
- Specify whether you want this gateway to use 3D Secure for card payments. Do not enable 3D Secure if you also enable Fastlane.
- Select whether you want to enable guest checkout using Fastlane by PayPal.
- Click Save.
- Click Continue.
- Continue the onboarding process for your platform to connect any additional gateways and retrieve your API access token:
Connect Braintree in Bold Account Center
To connect a Braintree payment gateway after initial onboarding, follow these steps to add or edit a gateway at any time in Bold Account Center.
Enter your payment gateway information
- In Bold Account Center, under Checkout, click Open.
- Click Flows.
- Under Connect a payment gateway, find Braintree and click Connect.
- Enter the following credentials. Refer to Braintree documentation for help finding these in your Braintree account.
- Merchant Accounts
- Merchant ID
- Public Key
- Private Key
- Tokenization Key
- Click Save.
Select and customize payment methods
